Location: Canterbury, Kent (university) / Surbiton, London (home)
Shift pattern: Live‑in – 7 days on / 7 days off – alternating day & waking night shifts, with split shifts and overtime as required.
Pay: £246.00 per day = £1,722.00 per week worked (plus overtime)
Holidays: 5.6 weeks pro‑rata
Accommodation: Provided at the university during work weeks; occasional shared rooms when away.
We are recruiting on behalf of a university student studying Business and Management at the University of Kent, Canterbury. The student has Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy and uses an electric wheelchair. They need a like‑minded care assistant to support daily living and university participation.
About the student: 3rd year, uses wheelchair, has restricted diet, enjoys football, Star Wars, and stand‑up comedy. Wants support with lectures, social events, travel, and spontaneous activities.
What we’re looking for:
* Assist with daily living and personal care.
* Assist with therapy (stretches, hydrotherapy). Full training will be provided.
* Full clean UK driving licence (essential).
* Physically fit, calm, patient, friendly, and caring.
* Good organisational skills and initiative.
* Comfortable cooking, cleaning, and shopping.
* Proactive, can‑do attitude.
* Mature and responsible.
* Good communication skills.
* Fluency in English.
* Clean and tidy appearance; maintain cleanliness of accommodation.
* Flexible to cover holiday or sick leave for other care team members.
Care experience is not required – full training will be provided.
