Job Description:
Reporting to the General Counsel, the Junior Legal Counsel will provide legal support across the business, with a focus on contract review, compliance, litigation support, and legal research. The role will involve maintaining accurate legal records, preparing documentation, liaising with external counsel, and assisting with regulatory and risk management matters. This is a hands-on role with scope for professional growth in a fast-paced technology environment.
Core Responsibilities & Duties:
* Act as the primary in-house lead on a broad range of litigation matters, including commercial contract disputes, regulatory investigations and reputational issues.
* Manage external advisors/counsel, including selection, instruction, fee negotiation, and ongoing strategy oversight.
* Draft, review, and advise on pleadings, witness statements, settlement agreements, and related litigation documents.
* Attend Court hearings and deal with general hearing preparations.
* Work closely with senior management and business stakeholders to anticipate, prevent, and resolve disputes.
* Support the General Counsel on high-value or sensitive disputes, including board-level reporting and risk assessments.
* Contribute to internal policies, compliance frameworks, and training programmes to reduce litigation risk.
Experience
* Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with 4–6 years’ PQE in commercial litigation, ideally with a leading private practice or in-house legal team.
* Proven ability to run significant disputes independently, including High Court litigation and arbitration.
* Strong strategic thinker with the confidence to advise senior executives and board members.
* Excellent judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to operate autonomously under pressure.
* Commercial acumen and the ability to align litigation strategy with wider business objectives.
* Proven leadership qualities, including mentoring junior colleagues and stepping in to represent the General Counsel where required to ensure continuity at the highest level.
