About The Job

Some key information

What will I be doing?

An opportunity has arisen in Adult Social Care in Somerset for a Mental Capacity Act and DoLS Service Manager.

You will provide high quality professional leadership for the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Central to the role is oversight and management of the DoLS system and DoLS Team across Somerset. You will also have oversight of Mental Capacity Act training for Adult Social Care and a key quality assurance role for practice.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

* Who is a social worker or occupational therapist, registered with Social Work England or HCPC
* Who promotes human rights, social justice, people’s rights to autonomy and self-determination, and can support, constructively challenge and provide guidance to others
* Who actively contributes to and creates a safe, open learning culture
* Who has a high level of legal literacy; the ability to apply relevant legislation in practice alongside professional priorities and principles of ethical practice while adhering to the Local Authority’s statutory responsibilities, and
* With the ability to communicate complex information in a way that is accessible.
* Who has access to/use of a vehicle

You will be a credible and compassionate professional leader who builds relationships, thinks, and acts creatively. Challenging circumstances and environments that marginalise, exclude, or oppress is central to who you are.

Anything else I should know?

Due to the nature of the role and the geographical area of the service across Somerset, which is a largely rural county, with limitations around public transport the ability to be able to travel to any location is essential. Therefore, applicants must have full access to a vehicle that can be used for work purposes.

We recognise and welcome applications from disabled individuals who may require reasonable adjustments to meet this requirement, and we’re happy to discuss this from the first point of contact with the recruitment team.
