GLL is currently looking for swimming teachers based at Bodmin Leisure Centre. Join us as a swimming teacher and play a key role in developing our customers' swimming skills. This is your chance to deliver safe, consistent swimming lessons that give people real confidence in the water – and an invaluable life skill.
As an experienced swimming teacher, you’ll thrive on supporting people to achieve their potential, taking into account their nature and needs. Swimming teachers draw on their knowledge of practices, progression, and teaching points and apply it effectively. Almost all of your time will be spent teaching people to become stronger swimmers, whether in a group or one-to-one, and from children to adults, with some administration involved.
We’re looking for swimming teachers who are approachable, friendly, and patient, with the ability to build trust, motivate pupils, and encourage with praise. You’ll need to be STA Award or Certificate level or Swim England Level 2 qualified, and ideally have the National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches. Knowledge of health, safety, relevant legislation, and Child Protection Policy is vital.
What you will do:
1. Maintain a positive image of the Centre by providing a welcoming, helpful, and professional poolside service.
2. Comply with the ‘Customer Charter’ commitments, maintaining standards as stipulated.
3. Ensure the safety and control of pupils during lessons and enforce relevant regulations.
4. Encourage pupils to enroll in further courses and short courses.
5. Assist with new and re-enrollments as required.
6. Follow the Safeguarding Policy, Behaviour policy, and other relevant procedures.
7. Record and complete relevant awards, ensuring standards are met.
8. Teach according to the standards set within the product manual for consistency across centres.
