Overview
We are looking for an Imaging Assistant to join our Medical Imaging Department at Ipswich Hospital to cover maternity leave. This is a part‑time role of 22.5 hours per week until 14 February 2027. You may be required to rotate to community hospitals. The department covers X‑Ray, CT, Ultrasound and MRI. You will be based in Ultrasound but may have some rotation into the other specialties depending on service need.
Responsibilities
* Support radiographers in preparing the patient for their examination.
* Assist patients with dressing, undressing and chaperoning where necessary.
* Provide personal care such as toileting, vomiting, bed changes or support for patients requiring assistance.
* Attend to patients’ needs in waiting areas and after examination.
* Assist with initial safety screening for scans and medicines administered by Radiographers/Radiologist.
* Assist with moving and handling of patients and loads using correct aids and techniques, including positioning on and off the scanning table.
* Provide pre‑ and post‑examination information to patients.
* Escort patients to and from clinical areas within Radiology.
* Assist in decontamination and cleaning in preparation for the next patient.
* In Ultrasound, support and reassure patients during fine‑needle aspirations and injections; assist with aseptic technique and sterile set‑up; manage wound care post‑procedure; transport clinical specimens, blood, and blood‑products; perform patient observations.
