Overview
The Children and Families Department takes a strengths-based approach to working with each other, children, young people and families, and our partner agencies. This role sits within the Adoption Support Service at Adoption East Midlands. It offers an opportunity to support adopted children and young people and their families.
Responsibilities
* Support families and carry out holistic assessments in partnership with families and professionals to identify needs and determine appropriate support plans.
* Support the programme of core services, including information and resource sharing.
* Co‑deliver peer support opportunities and learning events.
* Contribute to improving outcomes for all children and families and understand safeguarding children within adoption.
* Build excellent interpersonal relationships with service users and colleagues, and participate in peer reflection and regular supervision.
Qualifications
* Social Work England registered social worker with at least 3 years post‑qualifying experience.
* Excellent interpersonal and assessment skills.
* Evidence of awareness and understanding of the lifelong nature of adoption and the ongoing need for adoption support services throughout the life course for adoptive families caring for children with a background of developmental trauma.
* Commitment to working with a diverse population and improving services for Black children and families and other minority groups within the region.
* IT literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
* Valid driving licence and access to a car (a taxi service will be provided where disability precludes the use of a vehicle).
