Better places, thriving communities.

Due to continued growth, ACL (Alarm Communication Limited) is seeking to appoint an additional Contract Manager to join our well-established and expanding team.

This role sits within one of our dedicated Key Account Teams, responsible for delivering services to a portfolio of prestigious, large-scale commercial properties. These span a diverse range of sectors including general commercial, education, healthcare, hospitality, heritage, and leisure.

We are seeking a highly capable professional with a strong technical background in the Fire and Security industry, particularly in managing large and complex systems. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, outstanding communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with both clients and internal stakeholders.

This is a key leadership position, with full line management responsibility for a team of Senior Engineers, Engineers, and Apprentices. As such, the role requires a proactive and supportive manager who can motivate, develop, and lead their team to consistently deliver high standards of performance and service excellence.

The Contract Manager will operate as a technical account leader, heading up a dedicated team of Engineers to support a select portfolio of key clients. This role combines technical expertise, commercial awareness, and people leadership, with responsibility for managing a team of approximately 8–12 Engineers and overseeing an annual revenue stream of £1–1.5 million.

1. Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned key clients, building strong, long-term relationships and ensuring consistently high levels of service delivery.
2. Take ownership of account management activities, working closely with clients to develop a sustainable pipeline of works. This includes advising on future operational and capital expenditure, supporting budget planning, and producing technical upgrade strategies.
3. Prepare accurate and competitive quotations for on-site works, developing detailed site knowledge to enable efficient, consistent, and commercially sound pricing.
4. Support the Service Manager in the management of service contracts, including onboarding new contracts and renewals, ensuring all service levels and KPIs are consistently achieved or exceeded.
5. Work collaboratively with the Service Manager to ensure all remedial actions and corrective works are completed in a timely manner and to the highest standard.
6. Oversee the delivery of small and minor works, including quotation, planning, and execution, working closely with the Installation Manager, Senior Engineers, and Service Coordinators.
7. Collaborate with Project or Division Managers on larger-scale installation projects, acting as the client's representative to ensure site standards, specifications, and expectations are fully met.
8. Manage all financial aspects of the role, including monthly forecasting, work-in-progress reviews, and the accurate and timely submission of invoices, applications, and progress claims.
9. Take full responsibility for SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) compliance within the team, including the approval of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and conducting regular technical audits.
10. Provide effective line management for the Engineering team, including Apprentices, supporting their ongoing development and conducting structured performance appraisals on a six-monthly basis.
11. Contribute to the growth of the business by scaling the team in line with development plans, fostering a positive, high-performance culture, and promoting opportunities for internal progression across both Engineering and Management functions.

Person Specification

12. A strong technical foundation, ideally with an engineering background or demonstrable experience within the Fire and Security industry.
13. Proven experience working with large-scale, networked commercial systems, including a solid understanding of IP-based networks and integrated graphical solutions.
14. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and deliver works across multiple disciplines, working effectively with both in-house teams and approved subcontractors to consistently achieve high standards.
15. Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships within a collaborative, team-focused environment.
16. Commercially aware and financially astute, with confidence in managing budgets, interpreting financial data, and supporting business performance.
