Responsibilities To work with individual and small groups of students in a variety of situations, including, where necessary supporting off site educational opportunities. Working in partnership with the young person and their family, ensure PBS supports human rights and supports respect, dignity and inclusion. To assist students in their academic development. To offer additional support for students, including sitting with them in such areas as the dining room, assembly hall, classrooms, etc To protect students from any possible emotional and/or physical harm to themselves or others. To attend to students’ personal needs and provide advice to assist in their educational, social, emotional, health and hygiene development, this may include washing, tying shoe laces, basic domestic chores, etc. To provide personal and intimate care to students where necessary Qualifications Good level of literacy and numeracy Evidence of safeguarding knowledge and related training Experience of working with children and young people. Experience of safely performing interventions, including the use of positive behaviour techniques. Ability to actively and safely support students, including during behaviour management situations that may require physical intervention, in accordance with relevant guidelines and training Flexible and responsive to the dynamic and often unpredictable needs of pupils with SEMH needs
