Deputy Shift Leader - City of London - FM Service Provider - £61,000 per annum
A leading facilities management service provider is seeking a Deputy Shift Leader to support a site-based engineering team within a large, modern commercial office building located in the City of London. Working in a high-specification, business-critical environment, you will support the Shift Leader and wider engineering team to ensure the safe and effective operation of all building services.
The role is predominantly hands-on, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems, while also assisting with day-to-day coordination, reporting, and communication with clients, contractors, and management.
The successful candidate must be HVAP qualified, with strong electrical technical knowledge and proven experience within commercial building services. You will be confident supporting the team, maintaining safe systems of work, and stepping into a leadership role when required. Clear communication skills and a proactive, team-focused approach are essential.
Hours of work
7 -7, Continental, Day & Nights Key duties & Responsibilities:
Support the delivery of technical services across the site, working closely with shift engineers and specialist contractors
Assist the Shift Leader in supervising and supporting on-site engineers to deliver an efficient, customer-focused service
Act as HV Authorised Person, ensuring safe operation and compliance of high-voltage systems
Build and maintain strong working relationships with contractors and building occupants
Support statutory and code compliance, ensuring systems operate in line with current technical and health & safety guidance
Ensure Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks are completed and documented correctly
Maintain accurate compliance and maintenance records
Assist in the investigation and reporting of operational incidents
Ensure engineers are suitably equipped and working in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
Support monthly technical and health & safety reviews
Operate and enforce Safe Systems of Work, including PTW and RAMSRequirements:
Fully electrically or mechanically qualified (C&G / HNC / HND)
HVAP qualification (essential)
Previous experience within commercial building maintenance
Proven background in building services maintenance
Strong leadership and team-support skills
Sound knowledge of health & safety and statutory compliance
Experience working with Permit to Work and RAMS
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
