An exciting opportunity has arisen within Turbines for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager based in Bristol.
The BTF is a co-located casting and machining facility specialising in the manufacture of Nozzle Guide Vanes for Civil Large Engine, Defence and Business Jet Engine portfolio. The Bristol Turbine Factory is also responsible for a significant amount of Product Introduction and capital expenditure for strategic growth as part of the Canaveral Programme.
As Bristol Turbines Facility Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will work closely with the Head of Manufacturing and the Planning and Control Manager to lead the facility. You will demonstrate technical expertise in Machining or Casting and/or associated manufacturing technologies including Coating and an in-depth knowledge of the Rolls Royce Quality Management System so that you can act as Technical Authority and engineering lead for the facility. You will be responsible for integrating all Manufacturing Engineering activity across the Bristol Turbines Facility value streams and integration with supplier and customer technical teams. You will lead, manage, and develop the Manufacturing Engineering community in the facility and be responsible for professional alignment of the team to the ME function.
What you will be doing:
* Act as Technical Authority for the Bristol Turbines Facility ensuring manufacturing processes and methods are capable of meeting and continuing to meet requirements for quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time by driving manufacturing processes towards identified consistent best practice, optimising yield, Right First Time and product cost to continuously improve products on the drive to Zero Defects.
* Maintain and govern Technical Packages (technical instructions, programmes, tooling, etc.) for the BTF product portfolio and associated bills of material, including the control of manufacturing process change and be expected to hold or gain appropriate accreditation to Product Control Authority.
* Lead the technical input into the facility and influence the commodity strategy, including ensuring that Commodity and Manufacturing Process strategy implications are included in relevant capital plans.
* Integrate Capability Acquisition, Product Introduction and Digital activities, buying off new capabilities and methods of manufacture for new parts. Ensure new capabilities/ methods are at the required level of readiness for production application via APQP and PPAP.
* Lead and develop the team including succession planning and resource management to ensure a balanced load/capacity, including flow down of Man Eng business processes and audit of compliance with those processes.
Position qualifications:

* Professionally qualified Engineer degree or equivalent.
* Previous technical leadership roles within a manufacturing environment.
* Good understanding of process improvement tools and demonstrated ability to lead and manage successful improvement projects.
* Strong technical background and good knowledge of a range of manufacturing processes.
* Working knowledge of key Manufacturing Engineering business processes and tools, preferably Green belt qualified or higher
