Job Summary
An enthusiastic, conscientious and dedicated maintenance craftsperson (Mechanical) is needed to join a team of engineering craftspersons responsible for the maintenance and repair of mechanical plant and equipment at buildings maintained by CHoICE Facilities Services. The role requires the post holder to act as a Competent Person (CP) as defined within Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 00 for multiple engineering services and support CHoICE to meet statutory, mandatory and best practice commitments to its partners.
Responsibilities
* Engage in maintenance, repair and installation activities across a range of engineering services managed by CFS.
* Conduct surveys, inspections, fault finding, servicing and rectification of engineering system faults.
* Provide technical advice, guidance and supervision to CFS staff, contractors and Trust colleagues.
* Act as a Competent Person capable of accepting a permit to work from an authorised person.
* Participate in the current CFS shift pattern/system, on‑call rota and undertake overtime when required.
Qualifications & Experience
* Knowledge and experience of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems typically found within a large NHS Acute Trust.
* Detailed knowledge of mechanical system requirements and regulations within a large NHS Acute Trust acquired through qualifications and relevant experience.
* Complex fault diagnosis and formulation of technical solutions to improve performance and maintain the service.
* Basic numeracy and literacy skills to level 1 or equivalent, basic IT skills.
* BTEC/ONC, City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a suitable engineering discipline.
* Completion of a recognised and accredited apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline.
Desirable
* Experience working within an NHS Hospital Environment.
* Experience operating Building Management Systems (BMS).
* City & Guilds quarterly testing of large porous load sterilisers and washers disinfectors.
* Legionella Management Competent Person certificate, HVAC Competent Person Certificate.

Salary: £33,127 to £40,327 a year (expected earnings £37,627 – £44,827)
