What does a Buyer do? The Buyer is responsible for planning, selecting, and procuring goods and services to meet business requirements, playing a critical role within the broader procurement framework. This position oversees business spending through accurate forecasting and cost-saving strategies, ensures reliable, defect-free supply to support operations, and mitigates risk by applying a strategic, risk-based approach to vendor selection and inventory management. Responsibilities Research, assess and prioritise both internal and external stakeholders' requirements to ensure expectations are met Communicate to internal stakeholders on procurement and supply matters Deliver customer service and stakeholder satisfaction for procurement and provide continuous improvement Mitigate risk through secondary supply options Evaluate potential supplier commercial capabilities Negotiate with suppliers to promote effective procurement Ensure compliance with legislation and regulations for supplies from international sources Work closely with key vendors to develop clear objectives and strategies Define and agree upon KPI’s to access quality, performance, cost, and delivery with suppliers Evaluate data from these set measurements to make considerations for procurement and take action to improve supplier performance Evaluate historical and forecasted data to help formulate replenishment options and make recommendations to achieve optimum serviceability Take action to reduce waste whilst mitigating any negative impact on service levels Contribute towards strategic long-term inventory planning and budget What we're looking for Minimum 2 years experience within a Junior Buyer/Buyer role Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with suppliers, internal teams and stakeholders at all levels Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines A sound understanding of supply chain management principles Excellent problem-solving abilities Strong Attention to detail Excellent team player, with the ability to collaborate with other departments Proactive approach, anticipates potential challenges and works to mitigate them Punctual and professional Why Silmid?
