Role: Deputy Manager Location: Broxbourne Job Type: Full-Time Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and young people? We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to work in a warm, stable and child-centred home. About the role: The Deputy Manager will proactively work support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home. They will ensure the delivery of high-quality, therapeutic care for children and young people aged 11-17 with emotional, behavioural, and social difficulties. The Deputy Manager will act as a role model for staff, promote safeguarding, and uphold the values and ethos of the home. This is a full time role and the deputy manager will be expected to work a minimum of 45 hours per week. This role carries substantial leadership responsibilities, including regular Registered Manager cover and operational oversight of the home in the absence of the Registered Manager. Key responsibilites: · Support the Registered Manager in ensuring compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted Quality Standards. · Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of support workers, including Senior and Residential Support Workers. · Ensure each young person has an effective placement plan in place, actively supporting its implementation and review. · Manage safeguarding concerns, record-keeping, and liaise with external professionals as Applicable, including social workers and the police. · Participate in the recruitment, induction, training (including leading sessions), and development of staff including conducting staff supervisions. · Lead monthly staff meetings. · Promote trauma-informed, restorative, and attachment-aware practices throughout the home. · Oversee and support keyworker responsibilities. Write care plans, behaviour support plans and risk assessments. · Lead or participate in shift cover, including on-call duties and may include sleep-ins. · Support the monitoring of medication administration, behaviour management, and incidents. · Provide cover for the Registered Manager as required. Essential: · Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent). · Working towards or willingness to complete Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Children and Young People). · Minimum of 2 years' experience in a residential childcare setting. · Experience supervising or mentoring staff. · Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and regulatory compliance. · Ability to build positive relationships with young people with complex needs. · Effective leadership, communication, and organisational skills. · Availability to work flexibly, including weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins.
