This position sits within the Petrochemical Rental and Rapid Response Division, which provides combustion and flaring solutions on a short- and medium-term basis to clients worldwide.
We are recruiting on behalf of a globally established engineering organisation that designs and manufactures highly specialised industrial combustion and thermal equipment used across the power, petrochemical and process industries worldwide.
Due to continued growth within their Power division, the business is seeking an Applications Engineer to support the development of technical proposals and engineered solutions for complex industrial burner systems.
This is a technically focused, commercially aware role supporting projects from initial customer enquiry through to order award and handover. It offers exposure to international projects, specialist engineering challenges and long-term career progression within a stable global organisation.
The Role
You will work closely with customers, engineering teams and commercial colleagues to develop accurate, technically robust proposals for engineered equipment and systems.
The role combines engineering analysis, costing, customer engagement and solution development, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both technical design and commercial involvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Review customer specifications and technical requirements to determine suitable engineered solutions
2. Perform equipment selection, sizing calculations and technical evaluations
3. Prepare structured technical proposals and accurate cost estimates
4. Ensure pricing aligns with company commercial strategy and approval processes
5. Produce supporting documentation including technical descriptions, drawings and submission packs
6. Liaise directly with customers to clarify technical requirements and support proposal discussions
7. Attend meetings or site visits where required to support solution development
8. Coordinate internally with engineering, procurement and project delivery teams
9. Provide full technical handover documentation following successful order award
10. Remain available for technical clarification during project execution where required
11. Support continuous improvement of proposal tools, costing methods and technical standards
About You
12. Degree qualified in Mechanical, Chemical, Energy or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
13. Experience within industrial engineering, manufacturing, process systems, combustion equipment, thermal systems or energy sectors
14. Previous experience in applications engineering, proposals, technical sales support or customer-facing engineering roles highly desirable
15. Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret technical specifications
16. Comfortable communicating technical solutions to both internal teams and customers
17. Able to manage multiple enquiries and deadlines effectively
18. CAD exposure beneficial but not essential
