Are you passionate about protecting our freshwater environments? Do you enjoy engaging with people and working outdoors? We’re looking for enthusiastic Freshwater Biosecurity Ambassadors to help promote and protect biosecurity in Canterbury this summer.
About the Role
As a Freshwater Biosecurity Ambassador, you’ll be the face of freshwater biosecurity efforts in the Canterbury region. Your main responsibilities will include:
1. Engaging with the public, recreational users, and key stakeholders about biosecurity risks and best practices
2. Promoting ‘Check, Clean, Dry’ procedures to prevent the spread of invasive freshwater pests
3. Travelling to freshwater locations across Canterbury
4. Collecting information and writing reports on engagement and observations
What We’re Looking For
We’re after confident, reliable communicators with a passion for environmental protection. You’ll need to be:
5. Comfortable initiating conversations with the public and delivering clear messages
6. Able and willing to travel extensively across the region, with overnight stays
7. Competent in basic report writing and data recording
8. Flexible, proactive, and professional in representingour client
A background in environmental science or biosecurity is an advantage but not essential.
