The Graduate Apprentice will develop technical knowledge, professional behaviours and practical engineering experience through a combination of work-based learning, project participation and university study. The role is suited to someone who is motivated to build a long-term career in civil engineering and who can apply academic learning in a live project environment across infrastructure, utilities and construction operations.\n â¢\tSupport the planning, design, delivery and maintenance of civil engineering and infrastructure projects under the guidance of experienced engineers and managers.\nâ¢\tAssist with the preparation, review and interpretation of drawings, technical information, specifications, schedules and site records.\nâ¢\tContribute to surveying, setting out, measurement, data collection and reporting activities in accordance with project requirements.\nâ¢\tSupport project teams with technical problem-solving, option appraisal, design coordination and the evaluation of engineering solutions.\nâ¢\tUse digital tools, software and information management systems to support civil engineering design, communication and project delivery.\nâ¢\tAssist in monitoring quality, programme, cost, environmental performance and compliance with relevant legislation, standards and company procedures.\nâ¢\tWork in a safe and sustainable manner, following health, safety, environmental and quality requirements at all times.\nâ¢\tAttend all required university learning, tutorials, assessments and work-based learning activities, and apply learning effectively in the workplace.\nâ¢\tDevelop professional communication, teamwork, analytical thinking, project management and people skills as part of the Graduate Apprenticeship programme.\nâ¢\tMaintain accurate records of progress, work-based evidence and development in support of the degree apprenticeship and future professional progression.\n Skills & Attributes\nEssential\nâ¢\tStrong interest in civil engineering, infrastructure and the built environment, with motivation to develop a professional career in the sector.\nâ¢\tAbility to meet the entry requirements of the relevant university Graduate Apprenticeship programme in Civil Engineering.\nâ¢\tGood communication, numeracy and problem solving skills, with the ability to learn and apply technical information.\nâ¢\tOrganised, reliable and able to manage work responsibilities alongside university study and assessment deadlines.\nâ¢\tCommitment to achieving the Scottish Graduate Apprenticeship framework requirements in Civil Engineering at SCQF Level 10.\nDesirable but not essential\nâ¢\tQualifications in maths, physics, engineering, construction or related subjects relevant to university entry.\nâ¢\tPrevious work experience, placement, project activity or technical study relevant to civil engineering, design, construction or infrastructure.\nâ¢\tAwareness of digital engineering tools, design software or data management systems.\nâ¢\tDriving licence or ability to travel to sites, offices and university learning locations across the operating area.\n
