Applications are invited for one LAT post within the North of Scotland Anaesthetic Training Programme. This post is for one year and will be based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.
This post is aimed at ST4 level for residents who have completed stage 1 Anaesthesia training or stage 1 equivalence. Candidates at CT3 level, with 24 months previous experience in Anaesthesia in the UK will also be considered. The Initial Assessment of Competence and Initial Assessment of Competence in Obstetric Anaesthesia is essential.
Training needs of the successful applicant will be supported where possible, including the potential to achieve stage 1 equivalence.
The post will commence on 6th August 2025 until 4th August 2026.
Brief Description of the programme:
Raigmore Hospital has most major surgical specialties on a single site, including general surgery, ENT & OMF surgery, urology, gynaecology, orthopaedics. There is a 16 bedded mixed level 2/3 Critical Care Unit and a Medical High Dependency Unit. 24-hour interventional cardiology is supported by a Coronary Care Unit.
Obstetric and Paediatric services are provided at Raigmore Hospital and there is a National Treatment Centre within walking distance that provides elective orthopaedic and ophthalmology services.
The Aberdeen Medical School has students in Inverness, allowing opportunities to become involved in student teaching. Students rotate through anaesthetics at various times in their degree program, and anaesthetic residents are often actively involved in delivering medical education.
Inverness is well served by air, rail and road and uniquely allows quick and easy access to the wild and spectacular scenery of the Highlands and Speyside. Inverness has a vibrant modern city centre and is a great place to live and bring up families.
