Senior Workforce Business Partner – Band 7

20 hours per week – flexible working will be considered, hybrid working options are also in place.

The HR Business Partner model has been in operation within NHS Dumfries & Galloway for over ten years and is a very strong positive operating model for both the HR Team and the Directorates we support. It is therefore essential that the successful applicant can form strong positive working relationships with staff and managers within the directorates they support as this is critical to the continued successful delivery of this model.

This role is complex and the successful candidate will be involved in HR matters across the employee lifecycle. It presents an exciting opportunity for someone who is ready for the next step in their HR career. Candidates should have achieved Chartered CIPD or be working towards this and have experience across a number of HR roles.

Responsibilities

* Lead strategic and operational workforce practice and development within the defined directorate, acting as a member of the senior management team.
* Work collaboratively with workforce directorate colleagues to define service level standards, ensuring proactive, safe, consistent and effective practices that meet organisational objectives and the directorate’s strategy.
* Ensure delivery of an effective HR service for all employment matters related to the employee lifecycle.
* Lead and manage defined corporate, cross‑directorate, board‑wide and specific workforce projects.
* Support the development and implementation of workforce policies and procedures.

Qualifications

* Chartered CIPD membership or working towards it.
* Experience across a range of HR roles with a comprehensive understanding of the employee lifecycle.
* Strong ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
* Excellent communication and project‑management skills.

EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY

NHS Dumfries and Galloway is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce, and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Dumfries and Galloway welcomes applicants from all sections of the community.

PUBLIC PROTECTION

Public protection practice encompasses the recognition and management of risk in order to prevent or reduce harm to children (including unborn babies), young people and adults. All public protection legislation, and NHS Dumfries and Galloway (NHSDG) policies and guidance are founded on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the European Convention on Human Rights, and the principles of these Conventions underpin all NHSDG core business.

DISCLOSURE SCOTLAND

Some roles may require a criminal records check. Changes as of 1 April 2025 to the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme mean more roles now require PVG checks. If you are successful you will be notified of the required level of check by the recruitment team.
