Production Manager

Summary:
We have a new opportunity available at NG Bailey for a production manager to join our offsite manufacturing team, based in our new factory in Dewsbury (opening early 2026).
In this role you will manage and develop the manufacturing function to ensure that production and delivery schedules are met in an efficient, timely, economic and safe manner whilst meeting the required product quality. You will be accountable for the project budgets, production volumes and quality of all facilities, and champion all procedures to improve through-put and quality performance. You will lead the teams to achieve the assigned goals and improve engagement and work with operations to ensure all projects are delivered as per the customer requirements.
Some of the key deliverables for this role will include:
* Provide health and safety leadership to ensure that the “safety first and foremost” message is visible and alive through all activities
* Manage, motivate and lead the manufacturing team to enable optimum efficiency, quality and health and safety performance. Implement communication strategies among the manufacturing and shop floor staff
* Provide clear direction to the team through objectives, responsibilities and accountabilities, and manage performance.
* Lead and engage the production and engineering teams to ensure a collaborative function. Be accountable for project budgets, production volumes and quality of products.
* Ensure early and effective engagement from the manufacturing team to optimise a project solution.
* Monitor and report performance against agreed costs and programmes. Implement action plans to mitigate risks.
* Review and evaluate the project specifications and drawings. Re-engineer the installations and systems to ensure customer requirements are met whilst enhancing profitability for the company. Identify opportunities to embed pre-assembly and kitting
* Develop and maintain the forward capacity plan (labour resource and factory space) so all projects are completed in the required timescale. Manage current and future skills demand using production schedules, sales forecasts and business strategy.
* Develop and maintain a flexible workforce to meet current and future skill / labour requirements. Ensure all personnel are competent and maintain the skills register for the team.
* Understand operational excellence, and create/maintain a culture and work ethic to drive efficiency through the team. Develop production ratios for tasks to enable greater accuracy for the pricing of works.
* Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement, with benchmarks and plans to support the overall efficiency and profitability of the facility.
* Develop the manufacturing strategy, linked to the overall Offsite strategy, developing specific objectives to be cascaded through the department.

Previous experience in a similar role
Experience of manufacturing principles, and lean manufacturing techniques
