KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS Practical-Led STEM Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver high-quality science lessons across all attainment pathways, embedding consistent practical investigations to demystify complex chemical reactions, biological systems, and physics formulae. Closing Attainment Gaps: Identify and target deep-seated learning barriers, deploying structured scaffolding, visual models, and targeted literacy interventions to accelerate the progress of disadvantaged pupils and those with English as an Additional Language (EAL). Rigorous Laboratory Leadership: Manage busy school laboratory spaces with flawless adherence to CLEAPSS health and safety standards, teaching safe experimental techniques and proper handling of scientific apparatus. GCSE Performance Tracking: Guide Year 11 cohorts systematically through the demands of terminal Foundation and Higher tier GCSE Science papers, meticulously analysing mock scripts to eliminate misconceptions and maximize high-grade boundary retention. Community Pastoral Care: Fulfill full form tutor responsibilities within an established year group structure, managing daily registration, delivering pastoral curriculum units, and maintaining proactive, supportive communication with families. ENVIRONMENT & STRUCTURE Local Authority Framework: Operating under the direct oversight of Coventry City Council, this traditional community school remains deeply rooted in local accountability, following standard national pay scales and prioritizing comprehensive, inclusive education for the surrounding neighbourhood. Inclusive School Culture: The school features a warm, welcoming, and highly diverse campus environment. Behaviour systems are centered on clear, positive boundaries, restorative conversations, and mutual respect, establishing a safe, purposeful space for academic curiosity. PROFILE REQUIREMENTS Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related natural science discipline. Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress metrics in terminal public GCSE examinations across both Combined and Separate Science pathways through structured, explicit pedagogy. Inclusive Mindset: An unwavering commitment to comprehensive education, demonstrating the patience, cultural literacy, and adaptability required to inspire and support pupils in a highly diverse urban setting. REGIONAL CONTEXT Automotive Innovation & Manufacturing Heritage: Based in the historic city of Coventry, West Midlands, the school capitalises on a unique regional identity where pioneering automotive engineering meets modern green-technology initiatives. The local context provides rich real-world links for physics and chemistry modules, connecting academic science directly to the city's expanding engineering and research sectors. Connectivity & Infrastructure: The campus benefits from excellent West Midlands transport links, providing straightforward road commuting via the M6, M42, A45, and A46 corridors. Public transit runs flawlessly across the region, utilizing comprehensive bus networks and regular rail connections from Coventry main station, which offers rapid Avanti West Coast and West Midlands Railway services directly to Birmingham New Street, Leamington Spa, Rugby, and London Euston.
