Job Title: *Female Cleaner

YMCA are seeking to hire a *Female Cleaner to join the team at YMCA Brighton.

Overview of role:

To ensure a high level of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained throughout the project. End of a tenancy; carry out voids of accommodation. To follow Health & Safety regulations and guidelines. Where applicable report any concerns, hazards and/or damage by notifying the appropriate staff. Engage in training and supervision support to carry out the duties required.

* Salary: £5,079.36 per annum
* Hours: 8 hours per week (Days & Times to be discussed at interview)
* Annual Leave Entitlement 25 days plus Bank Holidays pro rata

Job Description: Cleaner

Overview of the role

Ensure a high level of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained throughout the project. End of tenancy to void room &/or flat. To follow Health & Safety regulations and standards. Where applicable report any concerns, hazards and/or damage by notifying the appropriate staff. Engage in training and supervision support to carry out the duties required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. End of a tenancy, as part of the role will be to assist with voiding rooms/flats by following procedural guidance on how to void a room/flats. Adhering to health & safety procedures at all times. Reporting any damages for repairs.
2. To maintain cleanness and prevent a fire hazard, communal kitchen and bathroom bins are emptied daily. Where applicable to dispose of littered cigarettes. Smoking is prohibited in all communal indoor areas and only permitted in designated areas on site.
3. Ensure that the client's belongings are stored tidily and safely, ensuring walkways are clear and free from hazards.
4. Clean offices and communal areas as directed, including hoovering floors, desks, door handles, internal doors, glass panels, skirting boards and paintwork.
5. Sanitised communal toilets and restock hand soap and toilet paper when required.
6. In communal kitchens, cleaning of fridge, oven/grill, worktop surfaces, floors and kitchenware, etc where applicable.
7. Where it is identified to assist clients in using the laundry room.
8. To report any damage to furniture, fittings or equipment to the relevant staff.
9. To report any areas of concern regarding cleanliness, health and safety or client's well-being to a relevant member of staff, using correct workplace procedures.
10. To attend meetings, and participate in supervision and appraisal, where re-quested.
11. To identify and attend training as directed by the line manager.
12. Adhering at all times to Health & Safety policy, and procedures and to complete all training that is required to carry out this job in line with Health & Safety regulations.
13. To comply with all COSHH regulations at all times.
14. To comply with all procedures and guidance concerning infection control at all times.
15. To adhere to the guidance in line with PPE at all times.
16. Adhere to procedural guidelines and training on how to safely dispose of sharps and deal with Bodily Spills at all times, along with alerting staff where necessary.
17. Adhering to manual handling procedures and guidelines at all times.
18. Reporting of any damages and/or hazards straight away this also includes any cleaning equipment and/or machinery.
19. Adhere to Fire safety and regulations at all times.
20. To follow Brighton YMCA's policies and procedures at all times, including, but not only, those relating to EDI, Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Data Protection and Confidentiality. To respond to all reasonable instructions and guidance as these procedures develop further.
21. To follow Brighton YMCA's Code of Conduct for staff, regarding workplace professionalism, at all times.
22. Undertake any other duties which reasonably fall within the range of this post.

All Staff are required to ( there may be a repeat of such as in the main responsibilities for a Cleaner) :

To report any concerns about the client's well-being to a relevant member of staff, using correct workplace procedures.

Adhering at all times to Health & Safety policy, and procedures and to complete all training that is required to carry out this job in line with Health & Safety regulations.

To comply with all COSHH regulations and guidance concerning infectious, hazardous control substances at all times, this also includes PPE requirements.

To report any hazardous material/ sharps &/or anything applicable under the hazardous definition. and adhere to procedural guidelines and training on how to safely dispose of such.

Adhering to fire safety, working at heights and manual handling procedures and guidelines at all times.

To follow YMCA Brighton's policies and procedures at all times, including, but not only, those relating to EDI, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, and Data Protection and Confidentiality. To respond to all reasonable instructions and guidance as these procedures develop further.

Person Specification: Cleaner

Skills and Abilities

Ability to clean to a high standard.

Ability to communicate sensitively with people with a range of needs.

Ability to work within a team e.g. openness, time-keeping, flexible approach to duties.

Experience

Experience is not essential for this post. Candidates should be able to demonstrate that they can gain the skills required for this job role.

Previous cleaning experience or experience within a similar setting is desirable.

Knowledge and Understanding

Understanding of confidentiality issues.

Some understanding of the issues faced by this client group is desirable.

Personal Qualities

We provide basic IT training, to be willing to engage in such activity for when it is required to complete logging of tasks and/or to access online training and work emails.

Ability to manage the physical demands of the post e.g. managing own 'round' of rooms, occasional bending and lifting.
