You will work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners including housing providers, education and employment services and health professionals to ensure holistic support for each young person.

YOU'LL BRING

* A recognised qualification in Social Work.
* A strong working knowledge of national policy and legislation regarding children’s social care.
* Substantial experience working with young people in social work, youth work or education settings.
* Proven leadership in project development and delivery.
* Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with the ability to work relationally with young people and collaboratively with professionals.

YOU'LL BE

* Committed to co‑production and youth empowerment.
* Skilled in assessing young peoples’ needs holistically and safeguarding effectively.
* Able to work flexibly, creatively and tenaciously to achieve positive outcomes.
* Comfortable with a physically active role, including participation in group activities and residential trips.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Lead the delivery of the House Project in Newham and manage facilitators.
* Work directly with young people to co‑design and deliver the programme.
* Build and maintain partnerships with housing, education, employment and health services.
* Ensure ongoing support for young people post‑move‑in to sustain tenancies and promote wellbeing.
* Promote youth voice and participation at every stage of the project.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

* Ability to form positive, trusting relationships with young people.
* Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
* Experience of multi‑agency working and partnership development.
* Understanding of trauma‑informed practice and child development.
* Ability to travel independently across the borough.

WHY WORK WITH US

* A commitment to addressing disproportionality wherever we find it.
* We are a good local authority focused on reaching excellence.
* We offer genuinely flexible / hybrid working as long as children and families are supported.
* Stability: 100% of senior management and 80% of Team Managers are now permanent.
* Our firmly established practice model, Circles of Support, was recently nominated for the prestigious MJ Award for Innovation in Children’s Services.
* Career progression is possible with Newham; within Children’s social work we promoted 30 internal colleagues in 2023 and 38 colleagues in 2024.
* A competitive salary package that rivals capped agency pay.
