Job Description:
We are currently offering an excellent opportunity for a Remote Operating System Operative to join our team in Stanford-Le-Hope. The goal of the position is to operate Automated Stacking Cranes (ASCs) via remote control consoles, supported by cameras and video equipment. The aim is to maintain efficient operation of the ASCs to meet customer service KPIs while adhering to company standards, policies, and procedures.
This role works a 12-hour day and night shift, on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, covering both weekdays and weekends.
About The Role
How will you contribute:
* Remotely operate ASCs from an office, especially when automated mode is unavailable, including:
* Loading containers on trucks and terminal chassis in landside interchange zones.
* Unloading containers from trucks and terminal chassis in landside interchange zones.
* Driving to or from the maintenance position.
* Performing picking and grounding operations remotely in automatic mode.
* Checking the height of container stacks and container IDs.
* Remotely operating ASCs during the final landing phase of containers onto vehicles when required.
* Using Terminal operating systems to monitor shipside and landside operations.
* Collaborating with operational staff to meet port requirements.
* Communicating via voice radio, responding to incoming calls, and resolving problems promptly.
* Being flexible in duties within the Control Room.
* Having thorough knowledge of the company's operating procedures for Control and Terminal.
What will you Bring
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
* Minimum educational level: GCSE Maths & English Grade C+ or equivalent.
* Tertiary education or military training is an advantage.
* Experience in a similar role or operating an RC desk preferred.
* Experience in operational, industrial, or port-related roles.
* Proven experience in customer interaction, face-to-face or over the phone.
* Good IT skills, familiar with systems and Microsoft applications.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills; radio experience advantageous.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.
* Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Positive attitude, willingness to learn and develop.
* Ability to maintain high concentration levels.
* Flexibility to work additional hours if needed.
