Plant Manager – New Build EFW plant

SCINERGY Recruitment is partnering with a leading Energy from Waste operator as they prepare to appoint a Plant Manager for their new-build EfW facility in Tilbury, Essex. This plant will process over 350,000 tonnes of waste every year - enough to power 93,000 homes.
This is a senior leadership role offering the opportunity to play a key part in the mobilisation, commissioning and transition into full operations of a brand-new site. The successful candidate will have full responsibility for site performance, safety, team development and long-term operational delivery.
The role will involve:
* Leading mobilisation and operational readiness from late-stage construction through commissioning and handover
* Full accountability for plant safety, compliance, performance and profitability
* Building, leading and developing the site operations and maintenance teams
* Ownership of site financials, including P&L, budgeting and forecasting
* Working closely with project, engineering, commissioning and commercial teams
* Managing relationships with regulators, local authorities and key stakeholders
* Establishing site standards, procedures and a strong safety culture from day one
* Driving continuous improvement and long-term asset performance
To be considered for this role, you should have:
* Senior management experience within Energy from Waste, power generation or a similar process environment
* Experience at Plant Manager, Operations Manager or Maintenance Manager level
* An engineering qualification to at least HNC level (mechanical, electrical, chemical or similar)
* Strong leadership and people management capability
* Proven experience managing site budgets and P&L
* A strong understanding of HSE and regulatory requirements (IOSH or NEBOSH advantageous)
Desirable experience:
* Mobilisation, commissioning or new-build project experience within EfW or power generation
* Experience transitioning a site from construction into steady-state operations
