Senior Supervisor Portering and Security
Job Summary
University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) cannot provide sponsorship for this role. The position is a newly created post for an enthusiastic, driven, and confident individual with a security and customer‑focused background and experience of leading by example.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide an efficient car parking and portering service and coordinate with Fire Safety and Security teams to deliver a secure environment.
* Liaise with wards, departments and external service providers to support their needs and priorities.
* Review procedures and services to ensure alignment with Trust Policies, Statutory Requirements and Trust Targets.
* Ensure a consistent approach across the department by liaising with Portering & Security Supervisors.
* Monitor service level agreements, policy compliance and performance; keep accurate records for audit and KPI reporting.
* Coordinate, monitor, develop and train the operational portering, car parking and security team for routine, scheduled and ad‑hoc tasks.
* Ensure staff receive adequate training and manage systems to minimise incidents; investigate incidents and recommend improvements.
* Deliver the highest level of customer service through a flexible, hands‑on approach.

Band: 4
Salary: £27,485‑£30,162 a year Pro Rata
Contract: Permanent
Working pattern: Full‑time, 24/7/365 coverage (primarily Monday‑Friday; occasional shift work for events and training)
Person Specification
Essential
* Certificate in Control & Restraint / Conflict Resolution (SIA or accredited)
* Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a security setting
* Verbal and written communication in English
* Positive mindset supporting organisational change, learning and continuous improvement
Desirable
* Supervisor /‑Management qualification
* Previous work experience within a healthcare environment
* NVQ level 2 or 3 in Customer Service or recognised leadership qualification
