Overview
We have a great opportunity for a motivated and dynamic clinical pharmacist who wants to be at the forefront of service development and have a key role in re-designing services across Mid and South Essex.
The pharmacy service has a full robotic dispensary and has outsourced outpatient services. We actively develop staff and use skill mix reviews to enhance job roles and service quality at all levels within the department. We have rolled out a near patient technician programme, enabling pharmacists to focus more on their clinical roles and develop clinical services in their speciality.
In this role, you will be working alongside other specialist pharmacists working in cardiology, surgery, stroke, haematology, & women's and children's to deliver the Trust Vision and Values of Excellence, Safety and Caring.

Responsibilities
 * Undertake a structured training programme that includes Cardiothoracic's, Surgery (vascular), Stroke, Care of the Elderly, Haematology, Microbiology, High Cost Drugs & Women's and Children's.
 * Provide a clinical pharmacy service to allocated wards along with an emergency duty pharmacist commitment.
 * Monitor standards of storage of medicines on wards and ensure that they comply with the Trust’s Policy for the Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines.
 * Identify own training and development needs and undertake appropriate training/education as required, supported by regular PDP and maintain a CPD portfolio.
 * Always follow standard operating procedures and to report to the line manager any occasions where SOPs cannot be followed.
 * Participate in the development of systems for monitoring performance, competencies and staff appraisal.
 * You will carry out any other duties of a similar nature consistent with the responsibilities of this job description.
 * You will participate in the timely provision of clinical pharmacy, dispensary, clinical trials and aseptic services to patients, wards and departments within Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
