Job Description:
Job overview
We are looking for an experienced practitioner with qualifications in at least one of the following areas:
Join our fast-growing, fast-paced Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in North-East Essex covering Colchester and Tendring.
MHSTs are a new service designed to support children and young people with mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties within education settings. We are a multidisciplinary team made up of Children and Young People’s Mental Health Practitioners and Education Mental Health Practitioners.
The role will require the successful applicant to work across Barking and Dagenham. Therefore, candidates with a valid driving license and access to a vehicle are desirable.
EMHPs and CWPs within NELFT are required to have a professional registration either with the BABCP or BPS. Our service is willing to support any EMHP or CWP to gain their professional registration, but this must be obtained within their probationary period. Failure to meet this criteria could lead to termination of employment.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work in partnership with schools to support children, young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their families in self-management of presenting difficulties.
They will develop intervention plans and outcomes with schools, children, young people, and families.
They will work autonomously within their scope of practice alongside education colleagues, delivering interventions to support CYP in various educational settings.
The candidate will conduct assessments, risk assessments, develop care plans, and review progress.
Proficiency in using Routine Outcome Measures (ROMS) and clinical tools is required to gather feedback and inform practice and service planning.
They will collaborate with other EMHPs/CWPs and senior practitioners, engaging in individual, group, and consultation work.
Regular supervision will be provided according to NELFT policies.
Working for our organisation
Starting with NELFT
New starters will undergo a comprehensive induction at our head office in Rainham, Essex, including mandatory training, systems training, and equipment allocation. They will meet senior management and participate in engagement and wellbeing sessions.
Probationary Period
This position is subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt unless they are currently on probation or are bank staff.
High Cost Area Supplement - London
This role attracts a 15% supplement of the basic salary, with a minimum of £4,551 and a maximum of £5,735 per annum pro-rata.
Base
The role requires flexible working across NELFT sites and educational settings, with some travel expected around the county. Ability to work independently is essential.
Further details
Please see the person specification and full job description for detailed responsibilities. Sponsorship is limited; applicants should check eligibility under the UKVI points-based system.
