Overview
We are seeking an experienced Air Quality and Environmental Permitting officer to provide temporary maternity cover, aiming to commence in November 2025 until 23 November 2026, or until the return of the substantive post holder, whichever is soonest. The role is based with the Environmental Protection team at St Helens Council.
Responsibilities
* Provide consultation responses in relation to Planning Applications.
* Calibrate and maintain fixed air quality monitors; manage monthly diffusion tube changes.
* Write technical Air Quality reports, including the Air Quality Annual Status Report (ASR).
* Inspect a range of Part B and some A2 processes.
* Collaborate within a small and friendly team and support flexible working arrangements with options to work from home or in the Atlas House, St Helens office.
Qualifications
* EMAQ Essentials of PPC and Essentials of Air Quality Management modules preferred; consideration given to alternative training and experience.
