Consultant in Gastroenterology – The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust
We are looking to appoint a consultant to support our expanding Gastroenterology service.
Job Summary
The post will deliver a contribution to the endoscopy service (elective and emergency), gastroenterology outpatient services and inpatient gastroenterology.
Inpatient work involves managing patients on the two gastroenterology wards, the outlier ward, seeing referrals on other wards and providing an in‑reach service to the Acute Medical Unit.
The post holder will be expected to develop a sub‑specialty interest in line with the needs of the department and to develop the management of this service.
Working Pattern
Run the GI ward on a 1 in 7 rota basis, providing daily ward rounds for 7 days. For the remaining 6 weeks of the cycle, deliver 5 clinical face‑to‑face sessions (e.g. 3 clinics and 2 endoscopy sessions) and attend MDTs and see referrals.
Contribute to a 1:15 on‑call rota for out‑of‑hours emergency endoscopy throughout the 10‑week cycle.
Qualifications
* Full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC
* Independent endoscopist capable of delivering on‑call emergency endoscopy
Desirable
* Evidence of audit and the implementation of change following the audit
Information for Applicants
Experience in ERCP is not required. We anticipate the successful applicant will develop a sub‑specialty interest in IBD.
