Sales Ledger Assistant

Location: Billericay

Salary: Competitive

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Sales Ledger Assistant to join our Finance team at Ground Control. In this role, you’ll play a key part in managing the sales ledger function, ensuring customer invoicing, payments, and reconciliations are handled accurately and efficiently. Your work will directly support cash flow, financial controls, and the smooth running of our business operations.

This is a great opportunity for someone with sales ledger experience who enjoys working collaboratively, takes pride in accuracy, and is motivated by meeting deadlines and targets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Generate and issue customer invoices and credit notes in line with contract terms and project milestones

2. Record, process, and accurately allocate incoming customer payments

3. Maintain the sales ledger, carrying out regular reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness

4. Post daily bank receipts and reconcile payments against customer accounts

5. Support purchase ledger activities, including processing subcontractor invoices and assisting with payment runs

6. Investigate and resolve customer account queries and discrepancies promptly and professionally

7. Manage the team inbox and respond to phone enquiries from internal stakeholders and external customers

8. Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly sales ledger reports

9. Support month-end and year-end close processes related to the sales ledger

10. Work closely with Contracts, Commercial, and Finance teams to ensure billing accuracy and high customer satisfaction

11. Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and relevant regulations

12. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and improve data accuracy.

What we’re looking for:

13. Previous practical experience in a sales ledger role

14. Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy

15. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands

16. A target-focused mindset, supporting the team to meet month-end and year-end deadlines

17. Strong verbal and written communication skills

18. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders

19. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

Desirable

20. Experience using Microsoft Dynamics (advantageous but not essential)
