The Role
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will lead and develop our Synthetic Test Environment (STE) capability, ensuring the effective delivery of Combat Systems Trials and Acceptance activities.
Day-to-day, you’ll take ownership of developing, managing and supporting the STE capability, working collaboratively with project managers, technical leads and systems engineers to deliver high‑quality, integrated solutions for our customers within the Naval Combat Systems Integration Support Services (NCSISS) programme.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Leading the STE capability to support Combat Systems Trials and Acceptance
2. Acting as the technical point of contact for delegated STE projects
3. Engaging with customers to understand requirements and future capability needs
4. Analysing, decomposing and managing requirements for integration into the existing STE
5. Supporting technical delivery planning and developing robust technical solutions
6. Liaising with NCSISS integration assurance Combat System Engineers
Essential experience of the Senior Systems Engineer:
7. Synthetic Test Environment experience and strong understanding of system integration testing
8. Degree-level expertise in systems engineering, computer science, physics or similar with post-degree experience
9. At least 3 years’ recent experience delivering multi-disciplinary complex solutions
10. Full professional membership of a relevant body or equivalent accreditation
11. Knowledge of Systems Engineering principles including requirements, design, testing and obsolescence management
12. Understanding of Technical Assurance processes and reviews
13. Experience with distributed simulation technologies including DIS, HLA and DDS
Essential qualifications for the Senior Systems Engineer:
14. Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline
15. Demonstrable post‑degree experience within systems engineering or similar

This role is full-time, based at Portsdown Technology Park (PTP).Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
