We are recruiting for multiple Senior Design Engineers to join a leading Rail Infrastructure engineering team within a Communication & Information Systems (CIS) environment. This is an opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure projects including HS2, major tunnel ventilation schemes, and high-profile transport bids such as tram networks. This role is ideal for a technically strong, systems‑minded engineer with proven SCADA and control systems expertise who is comfortable leading technical delivery across the full engineering lifecycle.
The Role
You will own and deliver complex, multi‑discipline SCADA and control system solutions across major rail infrastructure projects. From early‑stage bid support through detailed design, integration, testing and deployment, you will:
* Deliver specification development, system architecture design and deployment of SCADA & control systems
* Lead integration strategies across complex, multi‑system environments
* Drive requirements capture, decomposition, traceability, verification and validation (V‑lifecycle)
* Develop scalable, robust and compliant system designs
* Provide technical leadership and assurance across engineering activities
* Apply best practice engineering governance, standards and configuration control
* Support building systems testing and integration phases
Projects include:
* Power SCADA
* Station & Utilities supervisory systems
* Tunnel Ventilation Control systems
* Tunnel ventilation experience is highly desirable.
About You:
* Degree qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Control, Systems Engineering or similar
* Strong control systems background with SCADA as a must‑have
* Experience delivering complex control and monitoring systems
* Practical experience with:
* TIA Portal
* RTU‑based systems (e.g. A8000)
* Integration of PLC/RTU systems with field devices and networks
* Experience with modern SCADA platforms (ideally WinCC OA)
* Strong systems engineering capability (requirements, architecture, interfaces, V&V)
* Comfortable setting technical direction and guiding engineers
* Team‑oriented mindset with strong stakeholder engagement skills
* Experience delivering safety‑critical or mission‑critical systems
* Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it)
