We are looking for a high-skilled motivated and passionate Palliative End of Life Care Educator. Ideally you will have clinical experience working in palliative and end of life care, in addition to training, coaching and mentoring skills.


Main duties of the job

A key part of the role will be to support the Lead Clinical Educator in designing, developing and delivering structured education programmes and development strategies to enhance the knowledge, skills and confidence of health and social care staff in palliative and end of life care.

The post holder will deliver education and training to ensure continuity and quality of palliative and end of life care both at LOROS and in a range of care settings across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Collaboration with partners, including other education providers will be an important aspect of this role, ensuring LOROS plays an active part in addressing challenges related to palliative and end of life care and promote the standards and expectations as outlined in 'Ambitions for Palliative and End of Life Care: a national framework for local action 2021-26.

Job responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* To promote high quality, pesonalised palliative and endof life care across a range of health and social care settings by identifyingand developing the skills and knowledge of multi-professional staff in avariety of health and social care settings to ensure best practice and high-qualityservices to all patients with a life limiting illness.
* To recognise individual, organisational and systemwide issues which impact upon the provision of palliative and end of life care,tailoring facilitation of learning to take account of and address such issues.
* Lead on the development of proposals and innovative educationalinitiatives in line with identified gaps in provision and demonstrateleadership by actively seeking new partnerships.
* 4.Develop and maintain relationships with commissionersand LOROS stakeholders including delivery of activity as defined in ourcontracts.
* Lead on the planning, development, delivery andevaluation of teaching and learning experiences for specified areas ofresponsibility.
* In collaboration with the business support team you willprovide data and information pertaining to delivery and to support evaluationof the education and training programmes.
* To develop and maintain a safe and effective learningenvironment across a range of workplace settings.
* To work with specified teams across LLR in identifyinglearning needs and to develop and support the development of specific learningpathways.
* To maintain own personal professional development and(where appropriate) act in accordance with a recognised professional bodyscode of conduct (e.g. NMC).
* To nurture a reflective learning environment whereindividuals and teams evaluate and deliver care based on evidence and bestpractice.
* To encourage a climate of confidence by acting as achange agent facilitating an environment of openness and questioning.
* To contribute to the teaching programmes of undergraduateand postgraduate medical, nursing and AHP students.
* Work proactively with practitioners to ensuremeaningful engagement in professional development and improvement of palliativeand end of life care.
* Engender a culture of safe practice by promoting adherenceto policies/ procedures to minimise risk to patients, staff and others.
* Act as a clinical and professional resource to membersof the health and social care workforce.
* 16.Reflect views of patients and carers through thedelivery of education and training.
* Through the delivery of education and training promoteand enhance evidence-based practice.
* Maintain awareness of current developments in palliativeand end of life care and the implications that they may have on educationalprogrammes.
* Participate in evaluation and audit in order tomonitor effectiveness and impact of learning on practice.
* 20.Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure a collaborativeapproach is taken to education and development which avoids duplication andpromotes activities which build upon current provision.
* Work collaboratively with other organisations tojointly deliver education and training initiatives which promote service andquality improvement.
* To contribute to the planning/delivery of mandatoryand essential training within LOROS.
* To support the further development of the LOROSeducation programme. This may includestudy days, accredited courses, workshops, evening lectures and outreachprogrammes.
* To ensure that programmes of education are:
* Creative and flexible to meet theneeds of multi-professional/agency teams
* Appropriate for all members ofthe MDT
* Reflective of the differentlevels, needs and areas of practice of those involved in the provision ofpalliative care.
* Reflective of LOROS researchfindings to ensure translation into educational programmes and practice.
* To contribute to the delivery, accreditation, assessmentand evaluation of programmes in accordance with standards and regulations ofexternal partnering organisations.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* 1st Level nurse/allied health care professional with significant post registration experience
* Degree in relevant subject area
* Teaching or assessing qualification
* Advanced Communication skills course/facilitator training or willingness to undertake
* Masters Degree in relevant subject area
* Leadership and Management qualification


Skills / Abilities

* Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills both written and oral
* Ability to work independently
* Excellent organisational skills
* IT literate
* Demonstrate effective leadership and people management skills
* Experienced practitioner currently practising highly developed clinical skills.
* Ability to facilitate and implement change

* Up to date clinical knowledge and awareness of current issues in health care

* Awareness and understanding of health and social care system
* infrastructure.
