Description
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Warehouse Shift Manager to oversee all warehouse activities during the night shift. You will be the most senior person on site overnight, responsible for leading:
1 Warehouse Supervisor
1 Administrator
10 Warehouse OperativesYou will report to the Senior Warehouse Manager, who works the day shift and typically remains on-site at the start of your shift to conduct team meetings and hand over key information before leaving.
This is a hands‑on leadership role in a busy warehouse environment, ideal for someone confident working independently and making operational decisions during night hours.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
Lead, supervise, and support the night-shift team.
Monitor attendance, manage rotas, and maintain staffing levels.
Conduct start‑of‑shift briefings with a strong focus on safety and performance.
Support training, development, and onboarding activities.
Manage first‑line HR matters such as performance issues and conduct.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety standards and internal procedures.
Enforce safe FLT usage and ensure only licensed drivers operate machinery.
Investigate incidents or near misses and complete reports.
Maintain accurate audits, checks, and certification records.
Operational Responsibility
Take full control of the warehouse overnight, ensuring workflows run smoothly.
Oversee goods‑in, goods‑out, stock movements, and transport activity.
Delegate tasks to ensure productivity and timely completion of work.
Liaise with drivers, hauliers, contractors, and any visitors to site.
Resolve operational issues quickly and escalate where required.
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure process compliance.
Communication & Coordination
Receive detailed handovers from the Senior Warehouse Manager at shift start.
Communicate effectively with day‑shift teams to ensure operational continuity.
Work closely with departments such as Sales, Supply Chain, and Customer Service.
Profile
Previous experience in warehouse supervision or management.
Strong understanding of warehouse processes and Health & Safety.
Confident leading teams and handling operational decisions alone.
Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
Ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast paced environment.
