Activity Manager - Condover, Shrewsbury
JCA Condover Hall is a vibrant, friendly activity centre, offering a residential experience for over 30,000 guests per year. With a bed capacity over 600, our main guests are primary and secondary schools, but we also welcome groups and families from all walks of life throughout our season between February and November.
We have an opportunity for an experienced Activity Manager to join our operation at Condover Hall. This role will have responsibility for the delivery of high quality, safe and enjoyable outdoor activities by our Activity Department for our guests. A primary focus is providing a positive customer experience, and ensuring our operation is delivered consistently and competently to an excellent standard.

* Permanent full-time position to include some evenings & weekends

Essential skills & experience
* Experience of working with young people and adults in a residential setting
* Experienced in the delivery of outdoor activities to young people and adults
* Previous managerial or supervisory experience
* Good organisation skills, and can work under pressure to meet deadlines and targets
* A self-motivated leader, with effective interpersonal skills and good emotional intelligence
* Proven excellent customer care record
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Experience of budgetary management
* Competence using Microsoft Office and Online platforms in an office setting
* Enthusiastic, energised and a friendly disposition
Desirable skills & experience
* Facility Management
* A good understanding and knowledge of BAPA, LotC and Adventuremark
* Supporting and mentoring colleagues with their development and performance
* To hold one of the following qualifications:
* Rock Climbing Instructor
* Paddlesport Instructor Level 1
* SUP Instructor Level 1
* RLSS UK NLPQ Assessor
* RLSS UK Pool Plant Operator
* First Aid at Work
* First Aid Trainer
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management:
* Line manage Deputy Activity Managers, Activity Administrator, Equipment Safety Supervisor, and oversee Instructors and Apprentices
* Recruit, train, and induct seasonal staff; manage ongoing training and development
* Handle staff performance, welfare, and residential standards in line with HR policies
Operations & Compliance:
* Maintain high health & safety standards, including records and risk assessments
* Support adherence to BAPA, LotC, and Adventuremark standards
* Uphold safeguarding and equal opportunity policies
Activity Delivery & Quality:
* Oversee activity planning, staff timetabling, and guest scheduling
* Ensure facilities and equipment are well-maintained and ready
* Monitor and improve activity standards through observation and feedback
Customer Experience:
* Drive guest satisfaction through excellent service and communication
* Handle guest queries and complaints effectively
* Support inspections, visits, and liaise with other departments as needed
Administration & Budgeting:
* Manage the activity budget and procurement
* Complete administrative and reporting duties on schedule
* Act as Evening/Weekend Manager and First Aider when required
