We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Carpenter to hang Fire Doors in Chelmsford. You will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of fire-rated doors in Chelmsford Prison. Your expertise will ensure that fire doors meet strict safety standards and building codes, contributing to the safety and security of occupants. Duties
* Measure, cut, assemble, and install fire doors according to blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer specifications
* Read and interpret construction drawings, schematics, and technical manuals related to fire door systems
* Use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment to accurately install door frames, hardware, and sealing components
* Perform routine inspections of installed fire doors to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify repair needs
* Coordinate with project managers and other trades to ensure timely completion of fire door installations within project schedules
* Conduct testing of fire doors for proper operation, including alignment, hardware functionality, and seal integrity
* Maintain detailed records of installation procedures, inspections, repairs, and compliance documentation
Requirements
* Proven experience in carpentry with a focus on fire door installation or related construction trades
* Strong knowledge of construction estimating, blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and building codes pertaining to fire safety
* Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, metal stud framing, door hanging techniques, and fixture installation
* Experience working on construction sites with heavy lifting requirements and adherence to safety protocols
* Familiarity with fabrication processes including metal rebar installation, concrete forming, plastering, stucco application, siding work, roofing, woodworking, flooring installation, tile laying or masonry is a plus
* Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in various environmental conditions
* Knowledge of restoration industry practices such as mold remediation or water damage restoration is advantageous
* Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and reading technical drawings accurately
* Valid certifications related to construction safety or specialized trades are preferred
