As part of our continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our close-knit team at Bramfield House School in Suffolk. We’re seeking someone with experience, passion, and a commitment to supporting pupils in achieving their full potential.
About the Role
As an HLTA, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality education and support to pupils, complementing teachers’ work and promoting independence, progress, and wellbeing across the school. You’ll bring creativity, structure, and compassion to everything you do — ensuring every pupil feels valued, respected, and supported in their learning journey.
Your work will focus on:
1. Providing learning support to individuals, groups, or whole classes under teacher guidance.
2. Preparing and delivering lessons, interventions, and enrichment activities.
3. Helping pupils develop academically, emotionally, and socially in a safe and nurturing environment.
4. Assisting teachers with lesson planning, resource preparation, and classroom management.
5. Supporting behaviour management in line with school policy and promoting positive conduct.
6. Monitoring progress and providing detailed feedback on pupil participation, learning, and wellbeing.
You’ll also play a key role in supporting the holistic development of pupils — contributing to behaviour and pastoral plans, emotional regulation strategies, and wider interventions to promote inclusion and resilience.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
7. Supporting the implementation of individual education and behaviour programmes.
8. Promoting students’ self-esteem, confidence, and independence.
9. Attending and contributing to EHCP reviews and team meetings.
10. Maintaining accurate pupil records and reports (including Sleuth entries).
11. Assisting with Thrive sessions, PDS activities, and interventions linked to EHCP outcomes.
12. Administering medication when required (training provided).
13. Leading small group sessions, covering lessons, and supporting transitions when necessary.
14. Upholding safeguarding, equality, and inclusion principles in all aspects of school life.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a caring, motivated, and resilient professional who believes in the potential of every child. You’ll bring:
15. Experience working with children and young people, ideally in SEN or similar settings.
16. Strong communication and organisational skills.
17. The ability to remain calm, compassionate, and solution-focused under pressure.
18. A commitment to safeguarding, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
19. A genuine passion for helping pupils overcome barriers and achieve success.
At Bramfield House School, we believe every young person deserves dignity, respect, and opportunity. We’re proud to provide a caring, inclusive environment free from prejudice or discrimination — where each pupil’s individual needs are understood and met with patience, creativity, and compassion.
