Application Deadline: 26 October 2025 Department: Information Technology Location: Stevenage (SMIC) Description The Interim Project Manager / Scrum Master will play a key role in the IT Change team, delivering a portfolio of IT and business change initiatives. This blended role requires someone who is equally comfortable leading traditional projects through structured governance and acting as Scrum Master to support Agile delivery teams. The successful candidate will bring clarity, pace, and adaptability, ensuring initiatives are delivered effectively, transitioned into BAU, and aligned with business priorities. Key Responsibilities Deliver IT and change initiatives from initiation through to implementation and handover into BAU operations Act as Scrum Master for Agile initiatives: Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and reviews Remove impediments to progress, enabling teams to deliver effectively Champion Agile values, practices, and continuous improvement Apply appropriate project management frameworks and methodologies (ITIL v4, AgilePM, Scrum, hybrid approaches) to ensure successful outcomes Prepare and manage key project artefacts including project plans, roadmaps, gap analyses, user stories, and business requirements Provide accurate and timely reporting for governance meetings and senior management Collaborate with business leadership to evaluate proposals, ensuring alignment with roadmaps, priorities, and measurable business value Support scoping, requirements definition, and prioritisation of activities, flexing between predictive (plan-driven) and adaptive (agile) approaches as needed Undertake analysis and requirements elicitation to capture, challenge, and communicate business needs clearly Maintain awareness of technology and industry trends, bringing forward innovative ideas for business process improvement Perform additional duties as required to support the IT Change agenda Experience: Proven experience as both a Project Manager and Scrum Master in IT and business change initiatives Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, with hands-on Scrum Master experience Track record of successfully delivering projects and transitioning them into BAU Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and communicate at all levels Experience applying both Agile and traditional project management approaches, adapting to project needs Business analysis and process mapping experience (desirable) Experience working within GMP or regulated environments (desirable) Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Highly motivated, pragmatic, and practical to support the mission of the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult to accelerate the development of a commercial cell and gene-based therapy industry in the UK High-level interpersonal, communication (oral and written) skills and emotional intelligence A “roll your sleeves up” hands-on attitude towards varying work assignments Resilient, with the ability to manage multiple and varied tasks and prioritise workload within a fast-paced professional environment, with a strong attention to detail Flexible and pragmatic, able to learn quickly and respond flexibly to project needs and priorities A good team player with a hands-on approach, and adaptable to new challenges Experience of standard Microsoft packages Flexibility towards work assignments and new learning Ambitious, collaborative, driven Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and take initiative Collaborative and adaptable, with strong facilitation and coaching skills Ability to constructively engage stakeholders across teams and seniority levels Willingness to travel between sites when required Education / Qualifications: Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience ITIL v4 certification (essential).
