Offer description

Marine and Coastal Team Leader | 10120 | Permanent Contract | 37 hours per week | £43,822 to £48,227 per annum (Scale K) | Based across The Wash and Norfolk Coast

Are you ready to lead one of the UK’s most iconic coastal landscapes? We have a rare opportunity for a senior, high-profile leader to shape the future of The Wash and Norfolk Coast.

We’re seeking an experienced, outward-facing leader to guide the work of the Norfolk Coast Partnership (NCP) and The Wash & North Norfolk Marine Partnership (WNNMP) — dedicated to protecting exceptional habitats, species, landscapes and seascapes while supporting thriving communities and sustainable local economies.

About the role

As Marine & Coastal Team Leader, you’ll provide strategic leadership for delivering the statutory duties of both Partnerships, reporting directly to their Management Boards. You’ll be a visible, trusted presence across The Wash & Norfolk Coast, building relationships and representing the Partnerships at local, regional, and national levels.

You’ll lead a small team driving delivery across key priorities such as nature recovery, climate adaptation, recreational management and sustainable tourism. You’ll also steer development and implementation of the Norfolk Coast National Landscape Management Plan and annual Action Plan, ensuring clear targets, measurable outcomes and strong performance monitoring.

Key responsibilities

1. Provide strategic oversight of national initiatives such as FiPL, ELMS and Nature Recovery across The Wash & Norfolk Coast.
2. Lead the co-development, publication and evaluation of the Norfolk Coast National Landscape Management Plan.
3. Oversee delivery of WNNMP’s mission to protect, restore and enhance the Marine Protected Area network.
4. Build and maintain strong partnerships with local authorities, NGOs, landowners, community groups, businesses and volunteers.
5. Manage budgets, report to Defra and Partnership Boards and support long-term business planning and funding strategies.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on collaboration, strategic thinking and being out in the landscape — from beaches and saltmarshes to farms, nature reserves, and coastal communities.

About you

6. Significant experience in partnership management and senior-level relationship building.
7. Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, National Landscapes and Marine Protected Areas.
8. Proven skills in project planning, delivery, budget management and securing external funding.
9. Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and the ability to translate complex policy for non-specialists.
10. A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to inspire and lead a team.

If you are passionate about nature recovery, thrive in partnership working, and want to make a real difference in one of the UK’s most treasured landscapes, we would love to hear from you. For enquiries, please contact Dr Katy Owen at
