Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work with Transportation on the TRU project in Leeds and local sites. Murphy has a long history dating back to the 1960s, providing practical, innovative results across rail renewals, enhancements, bridge building, highways, ports and emergency earthworks. A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Quantity Surveyor.
Responsibilities
* Encourage and develop a culture of commercial awareness within the team
* Ensure the site team adheres to group procedures and governance
* Compose internal commercial reporting and any other required reports
* Prepare valuations/applications for payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract
* Construct cost reports to the client with contractually compliant supporting documentation
* Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts from detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of payments to final accounts
* Prepare and manage subcontract and material procurement schedules
* Undertake contract administration, including change management and maintenance of associated registers
* Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change
* Use cost allocation/coding that satisfies internal and external requirements
* Measure quantities in accordance with standard methods of measurement as required
* Engage positively with client and develop, motivate and performance-manage junior staff
Qualifications
* BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying (or equivalent)
* Strong civil and/or rail background (essential); experience in rail is preferred
* Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or a Quantity Surveyor progressing to that level
* Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards chartership
* Excellent knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract (NEC) and Standard Methods of Measurement
* Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills
* Full driving licence and willingness to travel
