UHD therapy services are seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals with a passion for learning to join the team as an Apprentice Occupational Therapist (OT).
We are looking for people who have a passion and a desire to start or further develop their career as an OT in Dorset. You must be able to demonstrate compassion, commitment, and respect in line with the NHS values and behaviours as well as flexibility to work across more than one employer.
The apprenticeshipprogramme provides the opportunity for you to gain hands on experience and earn a salary within a 3-year apprenticeship programme which will lead to a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy and eligibility to join the HCPC register. This course is delivered by Health Science University (HSU) at their Bournemouth Campus. You will have a minimum of 6 hours per week dedicated to study as well as clinical placements.
In order to progress your application, it is essential that you meet the educational criteria outlined in the person specification including havingGCSE pass (A-C or 4-9) English and Maths or equivalent e.g. level 2 functional skills in English and Maths, prior to the end-point assessment.
As an apprentice, you will be employed by UHD on a full-time basis (37.5hrs per week). As well as working as part of the team delivering care at your home base you will complete full time clinical placements to ensure that you complete the statutory HCPC and professional registration requirement of 1000 placement hours over the duration of the course. You will gain experience of working with a variety of other health and care providers and should be prepared to travel to various work sites across Dorset.
Whilst on placement your shift pattern may include days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Due to the type of programme annual leave is only able to be taken during home base time and University holiday times.
Our values define who we are as #TeamUHD. They underpin everything we do now and in the future. They define how we treat our patients, visitors, and each other, our valued teammates and colleagues.
UHD are investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following merger and the New Hospital Programme.
This means that some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or long term. Recruiting Managers interviewing for this role will be happy to answer any specific questions that you have about this at interview.
Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance / reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the postholder’s home and work base will be classified as a commute. Any other changes unrelated to this, will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.
Successful applicants will need to meet the university entry criteria and have passed a UHD interview and a subsequent University interview to be appointed to this role.
This is a full-time post and applicants will be required to work 37.5 hours per week between work, placement, and study days.
