Are you passionate about empowering young people as they transition from care to independence? We’re looking for a Leaving Care Personal Adviser to join a 16+ team with the local authroity of Luton, supporting young people aged 15–25 as they navigate the challenges of adulthood.

About the Role As a Leaving Care Personal Adviser, you will:
Work with a caseload of young people, completing pathway plans and helping them achieve their personal goals.
Support young people to develop independence skills, access education, employment, and training opportunities.
Collaborate with partner agencies to secure and maintain housing and support services.
Provide practical and emotional guidance, linking young people to specialist support when needed.
Lead group work sessions, including our weekly care leavers’ forum, promoting participation and shaping the services we deliver.
Manage your caseload effectively, maintaining accurate records and ensuring all statutory requirements are met.About You We’re looking for someone who:
Has at least 2 years’ experience working with young people aged 15–25.
Understands the challenges young people face, such as housing, benefits, education, training, or employment.
Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Is committed to multiagency working, safeguarding, and delivering high-quality, inclusive services.
Can organise and manage a caseload, balancing administrative duties with direct support.Key Responsibilities
Undertake needs assessments and create/review pathway plans in line with the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000.
Support young people to transition to adulthood, maximising their social, educational, and personal potential.
Provide advice and ongoing support to care leavers moving into supported accommodation.
Participate in duty desk rota to respond promptly to enquiries from young people.
Maintain accurate records and adhere to departmental procedures.
Promote equal opportunities, anti-oppressive practice, and safeguard the welfare of young people.
Represent the department in professional meetings and forums.Additional Information
This role is office-based at the 16+ office, with occasional travel to meetings across other locations.
You will primarily support care leavers, but may occasionally work with young people who remain looked-after.
