This is a hands‑on role where you’ll engage with employees on the shop floor, lead investigations, and champion continuous improvement across health, safety, and environmental performance.

Responsibilities

* Ensure compliance with COMAH, COSHH, PUWER, LOLER, RIDDOR and other UK HSE legislation.
* Conduct workplace risk assessments, ergonomic evaluations and job hazard analyses to prevent incidents.
* Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions.
* Monitor and improve systems for PPE, manual handling, confined spaces and hazardous substances.
* Support occupational health programs, including health surveillance and return‑to‑work plans.
* Maintain and update EHS documentation, SOPs and training records.
* Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and visible leadership.
* Support environmental monitoring and reporting (emissions, waste, water) and maintain ISO 14001 compliance.
* Liaise with regulators and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
* Participate in audits, support quality investigations and drive continuous improvement.
* Deliver EHS training and toolbox talks to increase awareness and accountability.
* Analyse EHS data to identify trends and reduce risk.
* Collaborate with managers and employees across the site to embed safe, compliant work practices.

Qualifications

* Degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Chemistry or related field.
* 3+ years’ experience in EHS within chemical or high‑risk manufacturing.
* Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and ISO 14001/45001.
* Skilled in incident investigation and root cause analysis tools.
* Strong communicator able to engage and influence at all levels.
* Proficiency with EHS software and reporting tools.
* Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities.

What We Value

* Physical Health benefits including healthcare packages and vision care subsidies.
* Financial Wellness opportunities including life assurance and enhanced employer pension contributions.
* Wellbeing benefits including additional holiday entitlement, flexible and hybrid working opportunities, access to mental health support, various optional social activities, and fruit available on site.
* Progression opportunities including access to learning and development programmes that will empower you to grow both personally and professionally.

Benefits

We strive for all employees to nurture physical, mental and emotional health both personally and professionally. Our commitment to health and wellness centres around prevention, early detection and embracing a healthy lifestyle.
