Job Purpose:
To manage and deliver high-quality Mechanical and Electrical Estates services across a hospital site. This role ensures compliance, safety, and performance standards while supporting patient-focused service delivery and strategic development within the Estates & Facilities division.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead day-to-day management of mechanical, electrical, and building systems (HVAC, boilers, medical gases, power systems, etc.).
* Oversee internal teams and contractors to ensure compliance, efficiency, and value for money.
* Manage team performance, training, and development, promoting a culture of service excellence.
* Prepare technical reports, specifications, and tender evaluations.
* Ensure all statutory requirements and safety standards are met.
* Contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and capital project support.
* Represent Estates on internal committees and liaise with clinical teams and senior management.
* Participate in on-call rota for Estates management.
* Degree or equivalent in Building Services Engineering or related discipline.
* Professional registration (e.g. IEng or CEng) with IHEEM, CIBSE, IET, or similar.
* Significant experience at senior level within healthcare estates or similar complex environment.
* Knowledge and experience with key healthcare systems (HTM compliance, medical gases, pressure systems, etc.).
* Proven leadership, staff management, and budget management skills.
* Excellent communication, analytical, and report-writing skills.
