Responsibilities
* Deliver youth work in one of our buildings or on detached using our mobile youth bus; may work up to 4 nights per week, one being a Friday evening.
* Provide high quality informal education opportunities to promote personal and social development. Support young people who are challenged in education, their communities or home life to ensure a successful transition to adulthood.
* Work as part of the Targeted Youth Support team to deliver core youth work, including detached/outreach work on the streets with young people, Special Educational Needs & Disability support for ages 11 - 19 (up to 25 if SEN), and targeted youth spaces and programmes (e.g., LGBTQ+ groups; mental health groups).
* Focus on personal and social development—the skills and attributes of young people—rather than simply “fixing a problem.”
* undertake the Level 2 Youth Work qualification; if not held, Lancashire County Council will support time and cost to complete it.
Qualifications and requirements
* Experience or enthusiasm for working with young people and making a difference in their lives.
* Willingness to work unsociable hours and participate in shifts including evenings.
* Level 2 Youth Work qualification (or commitment to complete with support).
* Eligibility to work in the UK and compliance with DBS disclosure where applicable.
