STS Aviation Services is hiring an SMS Engineer to join our expanding Safety and Compliance team in Manchester. This role is ideal for someone who brings technical expertise, regulatory understanding, and a passion for building a strong safety culture. You will work alongside engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure safety data is captured, analysed, and actioned effectively. The position follows a Monday to Friday working pattern, with flexibility required to support operational needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Support the ongoing development monitoring and enhancement of the company’s Safety Management System in accordance with ICAO Annex 19 and Part 145 requirements.
* Conduct safety audits inspections and investigations producing detailed reports and root cause analyses RCA.
* Monitor safety performance indicators and ensure timely closure of safety actions.
* Facilitate hazard identification risk assessments and safety workshops across maintenance teams.
* Manage and analyse safety reports within the SMS platform Centrik preferred.
* Support compliance monitoring activities and ensure findings are accurately recorded and addressed.
* Assist with the development and delivery of safety communications and training material.
* Work collaboratively with engineering and production departments to enhance safety awareness and operational safety performance.
* Promote a positive safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within safety quality and compliance functions.
Skills and Experience
* BSc in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent qualification for example EASA Part 66 licensed engineer.
* 2 to 5 years’ experience in a Part 145 maintenance safety or compliance role.
* Strong knowledge of EASA and CAA Part 145 regulations and Safety Management System concepts ICAO Annex 19.
* Up to date training in Human Factors EWIS and Fuel Tank Safety FTS.
* Experience conducting safety audits investigations and producing RCA reports.
* Familiarity with the Centrik SMS platform is preferred.
* Excellent communication analytical and technical reporting skills.
* Proven understanding of fixed wing maintenance safety hazards B737 B777 A320 A330.
