We're looking for a Technical Manager to join our development team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our housing portfolio. Contractually based out of our Portsmouth office, this is a full-time permanent role, working 37 hours a week with a minimum of 20% of this to be office-based to promote collaboration and team working.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this is a new role within the Business and as such, is an opportunity for individuals to create and craft the role and to set out and define a pathway for the future. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead design quality, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive innovation across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead internal design consultation and manage external design teams, ensuring design proposals align with Employer's Requirements and translate into high-quality, buildable homes.
* Champion a culture of 'conscious design' focused on residents' lived experience.
* Embed structured design programmes aligned with RIBA stages and Building Safety Act Gateways.
* Take ownership of building safety compliance, implementing processes to meet Golden Thread requirements, ensuring projects are safe and regulation compliant.
* Engage stakeholders, incorporate lessons learned, and promote continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Qualified in Civil, Environmental, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or possess significant industry experience.
* Member of RICS, CIOB, RIBA, CIAT, APM, or equivalent.
* Strong understanding of architectural and technical requirements, building regulations, and renewable technologies.
* Skills in troubleshooting, design interrogation, stakeholder engagement, and familiarity with RIBA stages, planning legislation, and tender evaluation.
This role involves travel; a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use are required. Business mileage will be paid.
