Job responsibilities
Thejobholder will have overall responsibility for the management ofnursing/associated staff and the management of nursing resources/budgetswithin the CSU or a part of it. Thejobholder will be accountable for ensuring the highest standard of clinicalcare is provided within the wards and departments for which they areresponsible and ensure the principles of clinical governance are implementedat a local level. The jobholder willwork in partnership with the facilities department in ensuring high standardsof hospital cleanliness is maintained, embracing the principles outlined inthe Matrons charter.
Thejobholder will be easily identifiable to patients, provide strong leadershipthrough a visible presence and provide support, advice and assistancerequired by patients, their families and carers. The jobholder will also support theimplementation of the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS), being afocal point for advice to patients and carers and local resolution ofcomplaints.
Currentservices comprise wards and departments across Theatres and and AnaestheticsCSU. The jobholder has indirect management of approx. 300 whole timeequivalent nursing and support staff.The jobholder has direct line management of the Team Leaders withinthe CSU or a part of it. The jobholder is responsible for the management ofnursing resources and ward and department budgets.
