Quantity Surveyor – Nottingham (Main Contractor) £52,000 – £60,000 PAYE + Car / Car Allowance + Benefits 40 hours per week Permanent
Due to continued business growth, our client is seeking a capable and commercially confident Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established main contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work across the East Midlands and Yorkshire. Projects span Education, Commercial Office, Residential Apartments and Public Sector developments, with values ranging from £500k to £50m (typically £10m–£15m).
You’ll be responsible for the commercial management of 1–2 live projects at any one time, ensuring financial control, risk management and profitability throughout the project lifecycle.
The role is primarily office-based from their Nottingham hub, with regular site visits to allocated projects. Hybrid working is available.
Responsibilities
* Full commercial management of assigned projects from pre-construction through to final account
* Preparation and management of project budgets and cost plans
* Procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
* Subcontract administration, including valuations and payments
* Preparation and submission of interim valuations
* Variation management and negotiation
* Cost forecasting and cash flow management
* Risk identification and mitigation
* Preparation of monthly cost/value reports
* Liaising with clients, consultants and site teams
* Ensuring compliance with relevant contract conditions (JCT / NEC)
Requirements
* Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying (or related discipline)
* Minimum 1 year post-graduate experience with a main contractor
* Experience commercially managing projects with limited supervision
* Strong understanding of JCT and/or NEC contracts
* Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
* Strong financial and analytical ability
* Ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously
* Full UK driving licence
