The Opportunity
A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer to support high-profile defence and nuclear projects across the UK. This is a chance to join a collaborative team delivering safety case leadership and technical expertise on complex programmes spanning new infrastructure, operational support, and decommissioning.
We would also welcome applications from those with experience in oil & gas, aerospace, defence, transport infrastructure or chemical processing.
This role would suit candidates working in these roles: Safety Case Engineer, Nuclear Safety Consultant, Safety Analyst, Principal Safety Engineer, Risk Engineer, Systems Safety Engineer, Safety Assurance Engineer, Safety Manager, Safety Assessment Specialist, Safety Case Author.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
Define and shape safety case strategies for major engineering programmes.
Collaborate with design and delivery teams to ensure safety is embedded throughout project lifecycles.
Liaise with stakeholders including regulators and site teams to support compliant and efficient delivery.
Conduct structured safety assessments using recognised methodologies such as HAZOP, FMEA and HAZID.
Produce high-quality technical documentation including ALARP justifications, safety reports and engineering substantiation.You will have the following qualifications and experience
Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline such as mechanical engineering, physics or similar (minimum 2:1).
Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards chartership.
Demonstrable experience in nuclear or defence safety engineering, ideally within regulated environments.
Strong understanding of engineering principles and safety case development.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and build effective working relationships.Get in touch now
